Requirements: French Minor

Improve your French grammar and conversation skills while exploring topics like French culture, French cinema, politics in France, and French acting.

This minor requires the completion of 20 credits.

 

Required courses (4 or 8 credits)

One or two courses from the following depending on French placement level

  • FR 2100 French Language and Culture IV (pre-req: FR1300)                       
  • FR 2200 French Language and Culture V (pre-req: FR2100)
  • FR 2500 French Conversation and Composition (pre-req: FR2100)
  • FR 2550 Advanced Grammar (pre-req: FR2100)

 

3 or 4 Elective courses  (12 or 16 credits)

Three or four courses (depending on French placement level) taught in French (or bilingual), one of which must be at the 3000-level or above.

Note: Passing the DELF B2 or DALF C1 diploma is strongly recommended. AUP will award one transfer credit for each diploma. The DELF (Diplôme d'études en langue française) and DALF (Diplôme approfondi de langue française) are diplomas awarded by the French Ministry of Education to prove the French-language skills of non-French candidates. Each diploma corresponds at one level established by the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
